Site of the Blast

Personnel have been are examining the location, which is understood to be in a south district of the city.

Accounts indicate the blast took place in a vehicle lot near a residential building.

Pattern of Targeted Attacks

Since the onset of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military commanders have been targeted within Moscow.

This new event echoes other notable incidents, including:

  • General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
  • General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a bomb placed on a scooter was set off from a distance.

While a source from Ukraine in the past attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are not officially confirmed as a matter of policy.

Hostilities has been marked by clandestine operations reaching into the streets of the Russian capital.

The examination into General Sarvarov's death is still ongoing.
