Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The track features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the project have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
