Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, football fans. How are you? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
