Liverpool's Star Issues Regret to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, performing and starting to win games.”
