The Wilder chant went viral in April. A repentant Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.
Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue at all with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and respected him calling me.
“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion together and he is a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that is part and parcel of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”
