Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Spurs fans" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded two scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League at home loss of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second goal when the keeper gave away possession far outside his area.

He ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, instead of booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes really irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage before Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part Vicario is performing. He's a excellent team player, he is a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match

Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.

He said following the game that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to remain more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to overturn results. Today is a poor loss and it's hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an simple score for Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant top division score of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.

10 moments passed between Vicario coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra time. After that it was all about attempting to make the right contact and place it on target. I had a positive sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While the keeper's error led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.

The match was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the year.

Only one of those wins have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything seems to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the division – their lowest rates on record in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
