Tragedy Occurs as Inadvertent Blast at Law Enforcement Facility in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Claims Nine Fatalities
A catastrophic explosion at a police station in Indian-administered Kashmir has caused the loss of nine people and harm to thirty-two others, according to authority reports.
The incident took place when a stockpile of seized explosive materials accidentally blew up during processing activities.

The explosion happened on Friday night at the Nowgam police station, where detonation agents seized from the Faridabad area in the northern province of Haryana were being kept briefly.
Area police chief stated that the blast materials were scheduled for scientific analysis when a "extremely tragic" mishap during processing led to their blast at approximately 23:20 local time.
Official Declarations
Security forces verified that this was an "inadvertent blast" and rather than a terror incident. "Any other speculation regarding the reason of this occurrence is unwarranted," highlighted the law enforcement head during a media conference.
The police station experienced severe damage from the blast, with neighboring structures also being impacted by the powerful blast.
Aftermath and Victims
Numerous cars were "engulfed in flames and turned into burned shells, with fragments distributed across the area," according to police accounts.
"The intensity of the blast was such that some body parts were found in adjacent homes, approximately 100-200 meters distant the police station," reported an official source.
Most of the fatalities were law enforcement personnel, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a garment worker who was accompanying the group.
Administration Reaction
The area's Lieutenant Governor expressed sympathies and confirmed that an investigation had been directed into the tragic incident.
"I have ordered a inquiry to determine the reason of the inadvertent detonation. Profoundly distressed by the fatalities of important persons due to extremely tragic inadvertent detonation at Nowgam police station in the Srinagar area. My sympathies to the mourning loved ones. I pray for speedy recovery of the wounded," stated the authority on digital platforms.
